This decorative deciduous shrub is mainly grown for its colourful foliage which emerges a vibrant coppery red and turns deeper purple-red as it matures. In midsummer there are also rounded clusters of near-white flowers which offer a striking contrast. Later in the summer and lasting well into autumn these flowers are followed by glossy red berries. A highly ornamental plant that will liven things up in the shrub border.
